A social media campaign is crucial to your SEO strategy.
Up until just a few years ago, SEO was purely about writing for the search engines and focused more on the technical aspects of a website, like download speed and mobile friendliness. Social Media was a standalone platform for promoting your content and business via their own channels.
However, if you haven’t heard, this has all changed a lot now – partly due to changes in Google’s algorithm and also because the way people interact on social media. If Pigeon, Panda, Hummingbird sound familiar, it’s because they’re all a part of Google’s rapid changes to their formula for ranking websites and determining what websites ranks where for what search term.
Google’s recent update of their algorithm includes HTTPS / SSL as a ranking signal
Although Google is considering the use of HTTPS-SSL as a ranking signal, It’s relatively lightweight at about 1%, according to Google. This will allow webmasters some time to incorporate the technology into their websites. It will be interesting to see what impact the new algorithm will have on SEO over time. Google says it will slowly increase the SSL signal points over time, meaning that it may be only one point now, but may be 3-5 points soon.
- Should you get an SSL? Yes
- Are we going to move our clients to an SSL? Yes, all 135 of them
- How much are SSL’s? $9 to $400+

How To: Digital Online SEO Marketing For Restaurant
I was just watching “Check Please,” a Restaurant review show on channel 9 (KQED – PBS) in the San Francisco Bay Area. I saw this review on a cool Italian restaurant in Sausalito, Marin Co, in the S.F. Bay Area and was ready to plan my next date night with my wife there. BUT, of course I couldn’t resist looking at their website a little closer. I was flabbergasted (is that still a word?) at what I saw. NO SEO at all. I mean ZERO! How Google knew to list them as a ‘Sausalito restaurant’ at all (on page 3), is amazing. Cudo’s to Google. Shame on this restaurant owner.
How and why do Restaurants fail at digital marketing?
The problem is restaurant company management, or lack of. A typical restaurant owner is the person to open and close the place. Many times, they are the cook, the HR department, the bookkeeper, the marketeer and the out front person to greet patriants. On top of this, many restaurant owners are the food buyers, boose buyers and employee coaches. So it’s not too amazing that they wouldn’t realize that their local restaurant is on page 3 on Google, or is getting bad reviews on Yelp. Continue reading
