QR Codes and SEO? Hmmmm…

QR stands for “Quick Responce.” QR codes are a two-dimensional barcode that can be scanned with a camera phone. These QR Codes can contain a URL, contact information, a calendar event, and much more. Why?  It’s a quick way to pass on information, like your contact information or calendar info. QR Codes store dates, addresses, URLs and other information as well. You’ll see them on signs, trucks, buses, biz cards and now on some websites.

OK, but why QR codes? Users with a camera phone equipped with scan type reader Ap can scan the image of the QR Code to display text, contact information, connect to a wireless network, or open a web page in the phone’s browser. QR codes or signs are also called “hardlinks” or “physical world hyperlinks.”

I wonder if google reads these new QR codes? We don’t know the answer to that question. And maybe it’s the wrong question to ask, but it’s something to think about, when trying new SEO tricks. I’m putting this one on our KO website today, in the contact sections just incase. If nothing else, we might score some points with the Android phone users out there.
